I haven’t been reading…

I haven’t been reading nearly as much this month as I have last month. Heck, I haven’t finished a single book. Classes are about to start up again, and I can feel a long school related TBR coming on. I don’t want to burn myself out before school begins, but I have been trying to read a chapter a day of The Name of the Wind. While I haven’t really been reading, I’ve been focusing on some other things.

On top of my hours at a cafe, I’ve been redoing my basement… which is where we’ve kept storage containers for the past 10 years. It took me, my mom, and my sister, and some really good music to get through it all. I fixed up a futon that we’d kept disassembled in the basement for a while, and I’m working on trying to fix the recliner (that’s just broken this week! urgh!).

Marshall, my pomeranian, seems to enjoy the futon, though. By no means am I Miss. Fix-it, but I am slowly getting somewhere, and seeing the progress that I’ve made is very rewarding. I still need to rearrange a few things in the basement and add a few bookshelves (and unhaul a few books), but I’m excited about the finished look – and the eventual ability to recline my reclining chair again.

I’ve also recently acquired a succulent, and at this point in time, I’ve managed to keep it alive for three whole weeks! I’ve named it Killer, mostly because that’s the name that was on the tag when I bought it, and it kind of just stuck. I do not have a green thumb. At least, I don’t believe I do. I’ve never really tried gardening before.

My mom says that my grandmothe20170805_205707386_iOSr is good at gardening, but that trait never stuck with my mom. I’ve recently started looking through my family tree, and I’ve found that my great-great grandparents on my mother’s mother’s side were farmers and miners. My mother’s father’s side doesn’t seem to have farmed at all. So, I guess we’ll see how long I can keep Killer alive. Right now, Killer is still in the plastic “pot” that I bought it in, and I’m not quite sure when I should put Killer in a new pot because the one that I have next is quite big and I just don’t know. The internet is kind of confusing about transporting (is that the word?) and I’m lost. I guess I’ll wait until Killer’s leaves touch the sides of this “pot”. Unless that’s wrong? Oh, I don’t know. If you do know, please let me know in the comments. I really really don’t want to kill Killer.

Besides catching up on some much-needed binge watching I haven’t done much else other than hang out with my family. If you’d like to know which shows I watch and need desperately to catch up on, you can follow my progress here.
