My Year in Movies | 2020 Movie Stats

This year, I’ve begun actively tracking the movies that I watch and writing a minimum one line review on Letterboxd. Letterboxd basically like GoodReads but for movie watching people. It has quickly become a favorite app, and is definitely one of the things that kept me sane this year. Also, I am in awe of the whole list making feature. Just like GoodReads, you can ‘shelve’ movies on basically as many lists as you want! These lists can be private or public, and the movies can be catalogued by SO MANY DETAILS (publication, watch date, average rating, personal preference, and MORE). One of the things that I absolutely love about this website is that it’s so easy to use.

I thought it would be fun to memorialize 2020 with the stats of movies that I watched this year. If you’ve watched any of these movies, or would like to know more about my movie watching habits – please consider following me on Letterboxd, as it will have the most up-to-date information. Have you seen any of these movies? Do you see a favorite on my list? A least favorite?

Lets get to my 2020 Letterboxd Stats!

I watched 91 movies this year, with an average of about 2 movies per week.

Just like with everything else this year, my movie watching dropped off in the Summer of 2020. With the house breaking and the construction, it was kind of hard to keep up with movie watching. However, things picked back up in the Fall/Winter, and I’m glad that it did!

Letterboxd generated this list of my Top 20 of 2020.
See any favorites? Any least favorites?
Let’s discuss!
My top three genres this year:
1. Comedy
2. Romance
3. Adventure
This is not surprising. We all needed a laugh, this year.
Highest rated movie: Star Wars the Empire Strikes Back! This was my first watch, and I enjoyed that enough to continue with the rest of the series.

Lowest average rating: The Kissing Booth 2, which to be honest I completely forgot that I watched this year. Oops.

Most popular: Midsommar, which gave me a migraine and left me in a permanent state of “What in the WORLD”

Most obscure: Love Struck Cafe. Which… I also don’t remember much of. I remember vineyard romance, and that is all. This one is still obscure – even to me!

My most liked review is Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, which I think is interesting since this was my first time ever watching the Star Wars series, and… my reviews aren’t insightful at all.

My most liked list my list for The Goodwitch series! I have yet to finish this series as a whole, but I am enjoying this fluffy show very, very much.

That’s a wrap, folks! I enjoyed going through these stats with you and I can’t wait to get through 2021 to see how my movie watching changes over time! I also hope to buddy-watch more movies next year, and can’t wait for more virtual movie nights!
